Actually, we are in Kansas
More than a dozen artists made the trip to Lawrence, Kan. – many of them by bus, no less — last week for the opening of “The New Old San Antonio: Stories from the Little Big Town,” at the Lawrence Art Center. Curated by human dynamo Rex Hausmann of Hausmann Millworks and Darin M. White of b.a.l.m. (beauty, art and life movement), the show is the latest volley in an artistic exchange that began with “The White Show” last year. Read more here…

Dozens of San Antonio artists migrating to Kansas
Artists, get out of town. For the sake of our city — please leave. The arts community does a great job putting out show after show of hot stuff in town, but it’s time to spread the word to foreign lands. Thirty-three painters, sculptors, mixed-media makers, and performance artists have taken on the mission, and are busing out to Lawrence, Kansas, tomorrow morn to attend the opening of their show “The New Old San Antonio: Tales from The Little Big Town.” Read more here…

As part of Final Fridays festivities in Lawrence, 33 artists from San Antonio, Texas are in town for the show “The New Old San Antonio: Tales from the Little Big Town.” We’ll hear from the show’s organizers about what the two towns have in common, and how their recent collaborations have started a larger conversation about artists forming communities outside their region.
